RAMA’s new logo and name reflects expanded advocacy work

Over the past several years, RAMA Okanagan has expanded our work to include support and advocacy for migrant workers of varying immigration status in industries beyond agriculture. As the communities we serve have expanded to include migrants with varying immigration status across different sectors, our work has also evolved to reflect the shared challenges they face. These include systemic barriers tied to precarious status, such as racism, discrimination, exploitation, and exclusion and isolation from Canadian communities. We continue to work alongside all migrants in their struggle for dignity, equity, fair treatment, and the right to status for all.

As such, we will no longer be using the full English name Radical Action with Migrants in Agriculture. We will continue to use RAMA Okanagan, so that this change doesn’t impact the workers who have known us as RAMA for many years. Our new logo also reflects this shift, while retaining key elements of the original ensuring it remains recognizable to our partners, workers, and supporters. The word rama means ‘branch’ in Spanish, symbolizing growth, connection, and solidarity, values that remain at the heart of the work we do. In this way, the meaning of our name in Spanish continues to reflect our ongoing commitment to justice for all migrants.

This logo refresh also marks and celebrates over a decade of working in solidarity with migrant workers and their families.

Our gratitude to our new logo designer Sofia Margarita Cruz
